NFL Football Odds – Bengals Will Be Too Much For the Bills
Saturday, August 28, 2010
by BetUS.com
The Buffalo Bills will play their first game this year at Ralph Wilson Stadium but the Football Odds, just like most knowledgeable fans have little faith in them. The 2-1 Bengals are the opposition this week and Cincinnati’s defense alone should be enough to give them the win.

The Cincinnati Bengals, fresh off two straight road wins S/U travel to Buffalo to take on a Bills team that defeated the notoriously bad preseason Colts in their last game. The Bengals offense has looked good so far and the defense appears to be ready for another run at a playoff spot.
It is that time of year when the first team offenses and defenses see more action in preparation for the real season. The Bengals first team offense is loaded and should see at least a half of work against Buffalo which means that Carson Palmer will have a chance to build off his 15 completion effort for 169 yard effort last week against Philadelphia.
Terrell Owens, who leads the team in the preseason with nine catches for 108 yards, appears to have good chemistry with his QB. Chad Ochocinco has yet to emerge and should see plenty of looks on Saturday. I haven’t seen any Football Odds yet on when Ocho will blow up, but I’m sure that they are out there.
Cedric Benson will see some action but focus will likely be on who will be his primary backup. Cedric Peerman and Bernard Scott are locked in a camp battle for the role.
Cincinnati’s defense was a strength last season and there is no reason to think that defense won’t be a focus in this game too. After looking bad against Denver, the Bengals focused on stopping the pass against Philadelphia and did so effectively. There are a few nagging injuries on defense but nothing to be concerned about.
Buffalo, under new coach Chan Gailey has had, by all accounts a very good camp but there are still a number of unanswered questions that will need to be addressed before the start of the season. The Football Odds have the Bills as only three point dogs likely because they soundly beat an indifferent Indianapolis squad last week.
One of the major questions yet to be answered is who will be the starting quarterback. Trent Edwards looked OK last week completing five of eight passes for 93 yards and a touchdown but his main competition, Brian Brohm was equally effective going 14 of 21 for 125 yards. Word has it that Ryan Fitzpatrick could see some action this week as well, clouding the issue even further.
Bills fans are pumped to see CJ Spiller in action this week and he should start. Marshawn Lynch may see his first action this season and will need a strong outing to hold off Spiller for significant playing time. Fred Jackson will miss this week but is expected to be ready for the start of the season.
The receiver position is another huge question mark. Outside of Lee Evans, the coaches will have huge decisions to make about who is worth of roster spots. Injuries to a few of the challengers won’t make it easy.
The defense is still a work in progress for the Bills but four turnovers last week have the team optimistic about their play.
Football Odds Outlook:
If the Bengals first team plays an entire half or beyond, they should be able to build up enough of a lead to hold off the Buffalo Bills. The Bengals defense shut down the Eagles last week, only giving up nine points in the game. They should have an easier time this week.
